Step-by-Step Kitchen Cleaning Guide
1. Declutter and Organize
Remove all items: Take everything off the countertops, out of the cabinets, and drawers.
Sort items: Dispose of expired food and items you no longer use.
2. Clean the Dishes
Wash dishes: Use warm, soapy water to wash all dishes, pots, pans, and utensils. Let them air dry on a dish rack or dry them with a clean towel.
Clean the sink: Use a Multi-Purpose Cleaner to clean the sink, then disinfect it.
3. Clean Inside Cabinets and Drawers
Vacuum crumbs: Use a handheld vacuum or a clean cloth to remove crumbs and debris from inside cabinets and drawers.
Wipe down: Use a mixture of vinegar and water (1:1 ratio) or Multi-Purpose Cleaner to wipe the inside surfaces. Dry with a clean cloth.
4. Clean the Oven
Remove racks: Take out the oven racks, spray them with oven cleaner and leave them in the sink.
Apply Oven Cleaner: Follow the instructions on the oven cleaner and apply it to the interior of the oven. Let it sit as directed.
Scrub and wipe: Scrub the interior with a scrub brush, then wipe it clean with a damp cloth.
Cleaning Glass: Make sure to remove any build up on the glass with a blade, finish by cleaning the glass with glass cleaner.
Inside the Door: Most doors come apart so you can clean inside the two glass panels.
Clean oven racks: Scrub the racks with non scratch sponge or metal wool, rinse, and dry them before putting them back in the oven.
5. Clean the Range Hood and Filters
Remove filters: Take out the filters from the range hood.
Soak filters: Soak them in a mixture of hot water and vinegar for about 15-20 minutes.
Scrub filters: Use a scrub brush to remove grease and grime, then rinse and let them dry.
Clean the hood: Use a Multi-Purpose Cleaner or a mixture of vinegar and water to wipe down the exterior and interior of the range hood.
6. Clean Appliances
Wipe down exterior: Use a Multi-Purpose Cleaner to wipe the exterior of all appliances, including the refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and coffee maker.
Clean the interior: For the microwave, place a glass bowl of water and vinegar inside and run it for a few minutes. Wipe the interior with a clean cloth. For the refrigerator, remove shelves and drawers, wash them in warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry before replacing.
7. Clean Countertops
Wipe down: Use a Multi-Purpose Cleaner or a mixture of vinegar and water to wipe down all countertops. Ensure you clean behind and under small appliances.
8. Clean Backsplash and Walls
Spray and wipe: Use a Multi-Purpose Cleaner or a mixture of vinegar and water to spray the backsplash and walls. Wipe with a clean cloth.
9. Clean Windows and Glass Surfaces
Spray and wipe: Use a Glass Cleaner to spray windows and any glass surfaces. Wipe with a clean, dry cloth.
10. Clean the Floor
Sweep or vacuum: Remove any loose dirt and debris from the floor.
Mop: Use a Floor Cleaner suitable for your flooring type. Start from the farthest corner of the room and work towards the exit to avoid stepping on the cleaned areas.
11. Finishing Touches
Replace items: Put back all items in their proper places in cabinets and on countertops.
Take out the trash: Empty the trash bin, wipe it down, and replace the liner.
Air freshener: Use an air freshener or essential oil diffuser to give your kitchen a pleasant scent.
Cleaning Strategy
High to low: Start cleaning from the top (cabinets, shelves) and work your way down to the countertops and then the floor.
Left to right: Clean from one side of the kitchen to the other to ensure you don't miss any areas and work systematically.
By following these steps, your kitchen will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, making it a more pleasant and healthy space to cook and enjoy meals.
